On July 9/09 we travelled to the Milday area in search of the
Bruce County Rail Trail. We did
find the south end of the trail and had time for a brief cycle, one concession
to the next. The south end of the trail starts at the Bruce/Huron County line.
There is no trail in Huron County.
And if your gps has a topo map, the trail exactly follows the abandoned rail route, find it and you find the trail. There are no trail signs, so look for the orange gates.
The admittedly brief cycle was not fun because in reality the trail is designed for ATV use. The loose gravel base combined with the mid trail pile of loose gravel created by ATV wheels do not provide a comfortable cycle path. ATV use is legal if a permit is purchased. We are going to return to other sections of the trail in the hope that we find segments with a stone dust base that are cycle friendly.
