There are actually two separate trails linking Brantford with Mt. Pleasant, one pave and one stonedust.

google road map showing 2 trails to Mt. Pleasant

original Galt to Port Dover railway map

Google earth map showing both routes, old railways

both trails start near Shoppers Store. Intersection of Colboren St W & Southern Access Rd (Highway of Heroes)

trail runs parallel to Southern Access Rd on north side from traffic lights.

cross road at BlackburnDr ... trail diagonally across.

trail signage at traffic light crossing is difficult to spot

on paved trail, turn right into subdivision and cross roads. Do not continue parallel to the Access Rd!!

map kiosk at Conklin Rd trail entrance, near Mt. Pleasant Road.

LE&H stonedust trail ends at Mt. Pleasant. Turn right to find the new 8 km section of trail.

paved route (westerly one) starts 200 m off Colborne

entire route is pave on westerly segment.

Now that you have reached Mt. Pleasant, head east to the main road and visit the Windmill Country Market, good food and produce.
Brant County has constructed 8 km of new trail that links Mt. Pleasant to Jenkins Road. (June 2010)
This section is now paved all the way through Brant County  (Sept. 2010)

new trail heads south from Burtch Rd (regional #26)

7 km brand new wonderful trail - now paved

trail tunnel under old highway 24

all gates display the road name

county line at Jenkins Road, Norfolk Cty has now constructed stonedust trail to Waterford (Sept. 2010)

Norfolk County trail link between Jenkins Rd. and Waterford is now complete .... photos soon

Norfolk County has voted to complete the trail from Jenkins Road to Waterford in 2011!!!
And the railway bridge in Waterford has been converted to a ped/cycle bridge.

Trail section from Waterford to Simcoe:    Norfolk Sunrise Trail now connects from 14th St to Lynn Valley Trail (July 2010)
This link provides map of new trail link through Simcoe, connecting the Waterford Heritage Trail to the Lynn Valley trail    http://goo.gl/maps/rFvM

Port Dover to Elmira route map ... about 145 km

from newspaper article about the route's potential

3 trails connect Waterford through Simcoe to Port Dover. Waterford Heritage Trail, Norfolk Sunrise trail, Lynn Valley trail

at Thompson Rd near abandoned RR bridge, rail starts south to Simcoe (10km)

trail starts with excellent stone dust base

trail becomes narrower, some ballast base, as it heads south

Norfolk Sunrise trail through Simcoe has excellent signage

Much improved trail starts at at Davis St. E. New surface all the way through Simcoe and direct link to Lynn Valley Trail.

Norfolk Sunrise trail takes you under Queensway bridge beside river, and then connects to Lynn Valley trail

Lynn Valley trail south to Port Dover, no on road cycling necessary in Simcoe - excellent signage and mapping

Lynn Valley trail also has entrance in Simcoe on east side of Norfolk Street ... poor signage ... look for rr cross arms

nice 10 km stone dust trail to Simcoe

in Port Dover at end of 10 km Lynn Valley trail ... head downtwon for food and beverage ... poor signage to attract trail $$$!

Other pages on this website will get you from Elmira to Brantford -  (Sept. 25/08)

The Elmira - Port Dover cycle route is now complete, except for [1] a nasty stretch of road in Kitchener and [2] an unsafe segment on Benjamin Rd. in Waterloo ..... both segments are for road warriors only!

Big city visitors to these 3 county trail systems could help by donating or signing up for a trail membership ..... donating  $$$

A volunteer committee in Waterford is looking for corporate help to make the old railway bridge ped friendly
